Your EQIS Team

Meet Joe Mooney

Vice President of Consulting Joe Mooney joined EQIS in 2017 as a Business Consultant and was promoted to his current position earlier this year.

We caught up with Joe to find out more about him and why his role is so important to advisors.

Describe your day-to-day here at EQIS.
My role can be best described as versatile. My primary responsibility is to accelerate our efforts in delivering the EQIS story by reaching out to firms and advisors across the country. I also serve as a resource for our Consultants in all aspects of our day-to-day operations. From onboarding new advisors to working closely with our Advisor Services team you can find me in every corner of our company.

What do you love most about your job?
I have always considered myself a team player and every day I get the opportunity to be the ultimate teammate. From the Consulting team, to our service and marketing teams, we all have the opportunity to collaborate and influence many aspects of our company.

What is your most often-asked question?
There is one question I am always asked when talking with new firms and advisors, and that is, “What makes EQIS different?”

I have worked in the TAMP industry for 12+ years and I can say without a doubt that the people are what makes EQIS different! We have an experienced and available service team, a very knowledgeable asset management team, educated business consultants, solution-oriented technicians, and a dedicated senior executive team putting it all together.

What is one interesting fact that no one knows about you?
I had the opportunity to play minor league baseball for the Cook County Cheetahs (Chicago) out of college. It was a very fun experience and one that I will never forget.

What is the best advice you ever received?
It came from my dad who was a very successful bond salesman at Goldman Sachs for 25 years. He said, “Trust is always more important than having all the answers.” If you do not feel confident in an answer, tell your client you do not know, research it and come back with the answer. To hear this advice early in my career from someone who was successful at the highest level helped relieve any pressure that I would put on myself to know it all. His advice had a major impact on how I have built relationships throughout my career.
