15 Years of ESG Impact Investing
HIP Investor’s unique methodology rates and ranks many types of investments for future risk, return potential and net impact on society. HIP believes that companies and municipalities that are measuring and managing impact and risk can be more valuable and resilient in the future.
HIP Impact Ratings score and rank investments using material metrics from operational outcomes, products and services, and management practices. Specifically, HIP organizes data and constructs and analyzes 260+ metrics to assess the impact and risk for any investment. All ratings are on a 0-100 scale where 0 is net-negative (more extractive) and 100 is net-positive (more generative).
The five pillars of HIP’s methodology are Health, Wealth, Earth, Equality, and Trust. An analysis of the data which HIP gathers and licenses in combination against these pillars and its components allows HIP Investor to provide analytic products on several levels of granularity: metrics, pillars and overall ESG score.
Higher HIP ratings not only provide information on which companies are providing more positive impact, but they also tend to correlate with higher returns and lower risk. Historically, lower ratings tended to generate lower returns, more volatility and less impact.
Four HIP Investor ESG strategies are available on our platforms:
If you would like to deploy any of these strategies on the EQIS TAMP, go to the respective client contact and from the Action drop-down menu in the upper right corner select Change Asset Allocation. This option is only available for clients who have provided you with trading authorization. If you do not have trading authorization, you can either submit a Limited Power of Attorney signed by the client or use the Client Directed Asset Allocation Form found on the Resources Tab and have the client sign it.
For advisors already on the Freedom Advisors platform, you now have convenient one-click access to these models. You can include them in Investment Plan proposals and you can invest in them through the Service Center. If you do not have trading authorization, you must upload into the client’s Documents vault either a one-time letter of authorization or a limited power of attorney signed by the client, after which you can invest, as instructed by the client, using the Service Center or by contacting your EQIS team.
Your EQIS Business Consultant is available to help you implement these changes, or contact Advisor Services at support@EQIS.com or 800-949-9936 and press 2.
