Premier Service Relationship Manager Alex Rykov joined EQIS in 2017. We caught up with Alex to find out more about him and why his role in helping advisors is so important.
Describe your day-to-day role at EQIS.
I wear many hats throughout the day but consistently strive to go above and beyond to provide that exceptional advisor experience that we are known for at EQIS. My knowledge base covers trading, transfers, death claims, divorce, account opening, and maintenance. I provide personalized assistance to advisors, helping any way I can.
What do you love most about your job?
No two days are the same. I never know who I get to assist or what issues I’ll help solve on any given day. As someone who is very task-oriented, I enjoy playing Sherlock Holmes, getting to the core of the problem. In addition to problem-solving, it’s so enjoyable building relationships with our advisors and finding out more about their personal lives while sharing small tidbits about mine. My commitment to providing the best possible experience and going above and beyond their expectations remains consistent for all of our advisors.
What is one interesting fact that no one knows about you?
Similar to my colleague Olga Belousova, I am from Ukraine, from the southern port city of Odessa. My family didn’t move to San Francisco until I was 10 years old, so I finished kindergarten and grades first through third in Soviet School. In the third grade, we were promoted from Young Octoberists to Pioneers and got to wear a red tie with our school uniform, which was a big deal.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Focus on the things you can control. The universe can be a totally random place but the one thing you can control is yourself.
